How do i get a girlfriend?

I think at 16 it doesn't matter your orientation. Everyone at that age craves that kind of love and affection. Its pretty universal. It will happen, but pushing for something is going to land you in those complicated situations you mentioned. Its the same for straight relationships. You living in such a gay friendly environment will make it a lot more comfortable and convenient. The most I can say is don't be afraid to approach someone you feel like you really want to talk to. Coffee shops are a great place it seems, you could always try that. But being that you are still young it will pose some challenges if you are truly determined. Just make sure you don't push too hard and get way more than you asked for. Also, don't worry about feeling unwanted, that comes with the age as well. Everyone feels awkward and like they don't fit some idea they had of themselves. You are just fine the way you are, and you will find someone to appreciate you. Hope all works out for you.
