I'm looking for some good orchestra/opera music?
Since you like the atmosphere created by Webber in his musical Phantom of the Opera, may I strongly suggest that you give Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" a listen. The original Broadway cast, two CD set features Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou. There is a concert version recorded by the New York Philharmonic and features Patti Lupone and George Hearn. There is a DVD of the original Broadway production filmed when it was on tour with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn. The movie version by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter is easily obtainable in video stores and will give you a well filmed version of the story, but their singing can not compare to those singers suggested in the CDs above. Check out amazon.com for CDs and DVDs. Enjoy!
